The Hungarian government with the assistance of the parliament, made a decision to shut down the border again for a whole month.

To protect the Hungarian people, the Hungarian economy (what do they mean about this?! 😉 ).

I’m a Hungarian citizen, having a permanent address in Hungary (Slovenia forced me to do this perfectly illegal action…) and a temporary in Slovenia (which is my permanent address for the last 5 years, but facts does not matter when we get to the bureaucracy system of this country).

I’d really, really, really need to go to Budapest for 2-4 days. I don’t have time for more. I live quite a secluded life. I cross the Slovenian – Austrian border 2-3 times a week. Officially it’s open just for “locals”. That means by the law just Slovenian or Austrian citizens. Not me. But I have a proof of Slovenian address, so they let me pass as in this country the officers have right to judge a situation and don’t mess up with the people they serve just because the politicians and lawyers forgot to count with this very basic situation in the EU in the 21st century…

For me to cross the border (at very limited points, so everyone is bringing their Ebola to one point), go to a 2 million people city, stay there is quite a risk (I mean of course not, I guess I’ll survive corona and if not, that’s also fine for me).

The government’s expectations from me:

• go to quarantine – where? I mean my permanent address is a rented apartment from the municipality and not fit to live in almost for a year, because they forgot to maintain the building for the last 22 yrs for sure…
• get two negative test within 48 hrs on my own cost – I plan to stay max 96 hrs and my calendar is full for this time
• beg to the authorities to let me get out of self-quarantine which shouldn’t be a decision as this release is forced by the law. You still have to wait for the detainer.
• risk that:
  • I get infected as I stay much longer  than I would otherwise (by the experience, the two negative test don’t make the process much faster than 2 weeks…), I have to go to places where there are many others waiting to be tested (and probably for a rational, valid, true reason)
  • spread the virus in my small – lot of elderly people – community in another country
  • start my new job later because of the sickness

So after all this, I’m allowed to enter. Wonderful. To protect Hungarians and the “Pannon Puma”.

At the same time – I guess for quite a fat pay check – someone is writing such things on a government’s communication interface:

• justified text?
• missing link to the Foreign Minister’s announcement on fb
• limit the entry to the country – except of course truck driver’s with all kind of goodies that are far not necessary, but at least quite a risk to spread anything
• new world economy era… at the time when countless money flew into the country for 30 years to build something, but we ended up just with some more renovated chalets, yachts, cars and other goodies simply for the very few at the top of the food chain
• lazítás… relaxation… probably he meant release / relief / easement ;-), but after a vacation in Croatia, you know… he is still in relaxing mood
• one whole minute (from 2:53 to 3:53 dedicated to talk about employees trip at multinational companies (how many percent of the employees in Hungary affected and isn’t it quite risky to have some guys traveling around the world without any control?)
• and yeah, of course the athletes, I mean most important our football players!!! can travel with some control (another 1:56 min);

Ps: and of course good to see him traveling and meeting so many people without a mask. 😉
